Jody's Review

Date: December 2nd, 2006

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Venue: Theater Of Living Arts

Okay, let me just start out by saying, this is the BEST show I've ever been to. So here I go. Me, my friend Katie and Brittany and my mother get to the venue at like 5:40 and the meet and greet started at 5:45. But unfortunately they made us wait in the cold for like a half hour. But we did get some Sweettangerine.net stickers. Woop! So we get into the venue and Greta, Chris, Darren, & Bob are waiting in a line with "Like Vines" posters them to sign. There wasn't really much time to say anything to them, so I gave Greta this song/poem & letter I wrote for her. Then we went down to the moshing area and got pictures with them, still no chance to really talk to them. So my friends an I get down on the barricade and about 15 minutes later, Greta comes down calling my name. "Jody Roberts?" I turned around and was shocked. She hugged me and said "I loved your poem. I know how you feel, I never see my dad either. But seriously, your letter is the reason I keep doing music. I loved it." (Hugs like 10 more times) Then she said she had to go and I almost started crying. I was so happy. Then the non-meet and greet people came in and an hour later, the show started.
This Is Me Smiling. Oh my god. They were amazing. They sounded great and their energy is so amazing. Can't wait to get hardcore into them! I got a guitar pick from them. And once their set was over, since the barricade was right up on the stage and there was security, I told them how awesome they were. They thanked me. =)
This Providence. Holy crap. They are amazing live. I'll keep it short, I got (cough stole) one of their water bottles after the set was over.
Murder By Death. Egh. Not a fan. Don't want to say anything to upset anyone. I just don't understand why you have to have a Jack Daniel's bottle on stage, and smoke while you're playing. =/
THE HUSH SOUND. They get on stage and everyone is screaming so hard. (The show sold out!) Of course they sounded amazing. No, perfect. Greta waved at me. =). At one point, Adam came on stage recording a song, so you should maybe see it on Buzznet if they put it up. Then during "Echo," they had a dancing contest. And whoever won got a free tee-shirt. I WON! =))) But I didn't get a T-shirt. Poop. Then during "Don't Wake Me Up," This Is Me Smiling came out and sang the Patrick part of it...then jumped in the crowd. I don't think they caught him. Anyway, they "finished" with Wine Red. But the crowd started chanting "ONE MORE SONG! ONE MORE SONG!" So Adam yet again comes out and says "If you want The Hush Sound to come out again, you have to do me a favor. Sing the "Fresh Prince Of Bel Air" theme song." So we did. They came out and played two more songs. During their actual last song, "Out Through The Curtain" Bob told us we were the best crowd on the tour so far. Eeek. Yay. Then the whole "backstage" crew came out and danced on the stage and Adam did the worm =)))). Darren threw his drumstick and me, Katie, and this other random kid were all grabbing on to it and fighting for it. So I yelled to Kate "MOVE! I'M GONNA HIT HIM REALLY HARD!" And I did, and gave the stick to Katie. But, the entire show was just, I can't even put it into words. Glorious.
Then I went to get my merch. Said hi to Mr. Moustachio, got This Is Me Smiling to autograph my CD and got a shirt. Went to the This Providence table, and saw Santa. I told him about how I was supposed to get a free shirt and I didn't. So i bought one. He's like "You can have some free TP stickers." And I was like "Nah. I already got like 30 of them." This Providence laughed at that and they gave me a free poster. =)
And that my show. The best show. Philly represent f00.
